The 9th annual TBM Classic Golf Tournament, hosted by Oneonta High School, was at Limestone Springs Golf Course on April 15th and 16th, 2019. We had 20 teams competing for 1st place and 103 individuals! Championship Team (for the second year in a row), Mountain Brook, won the event with a score of 565 (11 under par)! Runner up was Auburn with a score of 589. The Individual winner, again for the second year, was William Wann (Mountain Brook) with a 135 – 9 under par! We’re sure Mississippi State is looking forward to his arrival in 2020!
Other teams participating were Brooks, Fort Payne, Gadsden City, Haleyville, Hartselle, Hewitt-Trussville, Homewood, Hoover, Houston Academy, Huntsville, McGill Toolen Catholic, Oak Mountain, Providence Christian, UMS – Wright, Westbrook Christian and White Plains. If you came out, you definitely witnessed some spectacular golf! The top seven golfers all shot under par! William Wann (135), Hal Dove (Houston Academy 136), JP Cave (UMS – Wright 137), Price Brown (McGill Toolen Catholic 138), and tying for 5th with 139 Thomas Ponder (Providence Christian) and Evans Gross (Mountain Brook).
This annual event has been run entirely by volunteers and has provided over $22,000.00 in college scholarships. Al Carson ‘AC’ Rockett (Oneonta) was this year awardee along with Stewart Miller (Oneonta) receiving his 3rd consecutive check for $2000.00. HomeTown Bank has been the tournament’s PLATINUM Sponsor every year and has supplied over 10 volunteers for the event each day. We also have two new GOLD Sponsors: The Sanders Trust Foundation and Capstone Building Corporation!
