Announcing the 2024 Annual Tom Bell Memorial Tournament

13th Annual Tom Bell Memorial High School Golf Tournament
April 15th & 16th, 2024 @ Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Al

About Our Tournament

The tournament is organized and operated by the “Tom Bell Memorial Foundation” which was established to honor the life of Tom Bell. Tom was a long time member and resident of Limestone Springs and a man who had a true love for the Game of Golf and the friendships that result from it. Tom’s friends and neighbors decided that an appropriate way to honor Tom’s exceptional life was to establish a foundation which would provide scholarship assistance to deserving youth in and around Blount County. In an effort to fulfill this desire and incorporate Tom’s love of both golf and Limestone Springs, the inaugural Tom Bell Memorial High School Golf Tournament was played in March 2011. We had 45 players from 8 teams who participated in the event with Oneonta High claiming the team victory and Oneonta junior Freddie Mitchell winning the individual title. This year the goal is to invite 20 of the top high school golf teams which will result in up to 100 individuals competing for the title. Our goal is to create the premier regular season high school golf tournament in Alabama and provide an experience that the players will never forget. Unfortunately, we had to eliminate the 2021 Tournament because of repairs to the course! However, Limestone Springs is back and ready to host the tournament!

The inaugural event was organized and run entirely by volunteers who loved Tom Bell and wanted to ensure that the Foundation received all the proceeds from the tournament. In 2011 over 70 people volunteered over the two days and that number has increased each year. To ensure all the moneys raised are applied towards the Foundation’s principle goals, volunteers are essential!

Paul Harris, a former member of the Oneonta High School golf team and one of Tom’s “prodigies”, received the initial scholarship and because of it, Paul continued to fulfill his competitive golfing dreams as a member of the University of Kansas golf team and played on the Asian Tour. Since this scholarship, the Foundation has awarded ten (10) additional scholarships to High School Seniors furthering their education. If the recipient remains in school and a 3.0 GPA they will receive an additional $2000.00 for up to 4 years!

Please visit our website (http://www.tombellmemorial.com). The website has information about the tournament, how to make donations, and has the
scholarship application if you know someone who is interested in applying for it. If you have the time, please consider volunteering to help out during the
tournament!
